I am trying not to be hard on myself since last week I didn’t get to post the feature vendor of the week. Life was a little crazy around here and the blog got a little neglected. I am a week late but excited to feature Poppies and Top Hats a local, rental wedding company. I had the pleasure of working on a styled bridal shoot with Lorna and Morghan, owners of Poppies and Top Hats a few months ago. 1. Q: How long have you been in business?
Poppies and Top Hats has been in business since fall of 2015
2. What is Your Mission statement?
A: Our mission is to be Willamette Valley’s leading Specialty Event Rental and Design company by helping our clients’ develop a clear vision of their individually unique needs and delivering memorable and successful events. We are built on relationships of trust and nurture and known for flawlessly exceeding our clients’ expectations through passion and drive for every event.
3. What is your style and what sets you apart from others in your industry?
A: Really, our “style” is whatever the client wants. But I certainly lean more toward edgy vintage. I like to mix styles up and Lorna is more on the classic/traditional side.
4. What is the best part of your business?
A: We love seeing the joy on our brides’ faces when they see their visions come to life. Our hard work always pays off.
5. The Reason behind your business name?
A: Poppies and Top Hats- We wanted a name that didn’t stick us in a single style category, a name that is unique and memorable, one that says “I can be soft, pretty and delicate, but also fun and quirky”. Also, we wanted something that would describe both of our personalities. Lorna is definitely the “Poppies” and I the “Top Hats”.
6. Type of service you offer?
A: At Poppies and Top Hats, we offer a few different services, with plans to expand in the future. We have a large and ever expanding selection of décor rentals from furniture, signage, lighting, tableware, cake stands, large and small details, banners, textiles, backdrops, and so much more. We also offer design services, whether we create the look from start to finish or just help guide our client through their vision. If delivery and set-up/tear-down is needed, we can provide that as well.
7. Where are you located?
A: We are located in Marcola, OR. But, our showroom will be available to view online at poppiesandtophats.com very soon! Yay! We currently display most of our inventory and work on our facebook page: facebook.com/poppiesandtophats
8. Do you travel and if so how far from your city of residence?
A: We do travel! We go as far north as Albany/Corvallis and as far south as Roseburg.
9. What is the best advice you can give a bride?
A: DELEGATE! Choose your wedding party wisely and be sure to have a good support system. Make certain they are willing and will have the time to help with little tasks. Don’t overwhelm yourself with taking on every single detail on your own. Prepare yourself for hiccups. They happen! Most likely, you are the only person who will know if something doesn’t go exactly as planned. There is no need to get worked up over the lemonade not being set out, exchanging someone else’s rings because your best man left your’s with the photographer, or the giant dopey lab that followed you up the aisle and left muddy paw prints on your train during the ceremony (all of which, were the hiccups at my wedding). The joy of marrying your best friend should not be interrupted by these silly things. They won’t matter in the end and usually make for quite the belly laugh. You’re wedding day should be stress-free and the entire process building up to it should be beautiful.
10. Do you work by yourself or with a team?
A: We are a team of 2 who have worked together in a hospital OR setting for the past 4 years. We also get incredible help and support from our fabulous husbands, Casey and John, as well as our other family members.
