Today I’m going to share four things I do to set myself up for a productive work week. Every Sunday night I take about thirty minutes to plan out my week ahead. This not only helps me be strategic but also helps me be productive.
I like the idea of brain dumping and if you have not yet done this, I highly recommend it. For those that are new to brain-dump, all these means is transferring ideas, knowledge from your brain to paper, voice recording, or to your computer. I like to brain-dump using post-it notes.
When I brain-dump, I take a few minutes to write down all the tasks that need to get done. Once I’m done with brain-dumping, I choose three tasks that are a priority and are going to help move my business forward.
Keep your to-do list short, this way you don’t get overwhelmed. I normally only have three projects on my to-do list besides daily tasks like checking emails and posting on social media. Once my three projects are done, I can add to my to-do list.
It is inevitable that we all have things to do in our business that we are not big fans of but we know they need to be done. I try to put those projects on top of the list and attack them first. Not only does this avoid procrastination, but it also gives me a great feeling of accomplishment. It also sets the tone for the rest of the week.
Just like we budget our checkbook, we also need to budget our time. Every single task needs to have an amount of time assigned to it. This also includes your breaks and lunch. Please don’t forget to take care of yourself as well.
