Air Force Airman Graduation
Day two of our visit to Lackland Air Force Base and Jeremy’s Air Force Airman Graduation Ceremony.
We arrived on base two hours early to avoid the crowd and get good seats for the Air Force Airman Graduation. If day one was hot, day two was unbearable. By the time we arrived on base at 7 am we were already a sweaty mess. Yes, I said it…sweaty mess!! And the worst part about it, which I am sure Lackaland Air Force Base has some logic to it, all the bleachers were facing the sun. At this time of day the awnings on the bleachers provided no shade. We braved the excruciating heat and humidity for over three hours, all for the sake to watch our favorite airman graduate from boot camp. The ceremony alone was about an hour. It was beautiful and emotional. I admit it, I cried more than once but you would never know if they where tears or sweat…I am not kidding when I say it was hot and humid!
First day at the coin ceremony I failed miserably to spot my son as he received his coin. I am not even sure how many pictures I took trying to find him in a sea of over 700 airmen. At the ceremony, it was different, I spotted my handsome airman right away. Scroll down to see how handsome he looked.
Congratulations Airman Gillis! You make me one proud Air Force Mom.
Next on the blog will be day 3. Come take a tour with me into Jeremy’s boot camp dorm.
Call me biased but I think he is the best looking Airman! There he is again second row on the right.Taking their oath. Oh how I wish I was a few feet to the left so I can see Jeremy’s face. He is on the second row on the right.
