Earlier this week someone posted on a forum I belong to a question I thought was very simple to answer…”Why do I love God?” My response was, because He is my creator and He has blessed me in ways I don’t deserve. Over the week I have pondered that same question, “Why do I love God?” The song “In Christ Alone” keeps playing in my head..….
…..There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

The answer should be simple right? But as I began to meditate more on who God is and what He has done for me, how can I really answer this question with one simple sentence? This song encapsulates who Christ is in me. I am not worthy of his sacrifice nor do I deserve it. His love for me is endless and his plan is to bless me. I love Him because He first loved me! I love Him because He gave His son as a sacrifice so that I can have eternal life. I love Him because I am created in His image. I love Him because He has delivered me from darkness and has set me free. I love Him because He is God and there is no one like Him!
So my question to you, why do you love God?
Hope you had a wonderful Friday. Enjoy the flowers from my garden that made my day brighter!
