I’m so excited to share a glimpse into our unforgettable Santorini sunrise portrait session—a sunrise shoot that beautifully captured both the breathtaking scenery and the love Curt and I share. One of our favorite things to do when we travel is to hire a local photographer for a portrait session. It’s something we’ve done in several places now, and I can’t recommend it enough. It allows you to not only document your trip but to experience the culture and scenery in such an intentional way. These aren’t just snapshots—they’re part of the legacy we’re building.
When I talk about legacy, I mean this: I’m not just taking pictures for Curt and me. I’m creating heirlooms for our children, grandchildren, and the generations who will come after us. I want them to see the love we shared, the life we lived, and the blessing of our marriage. One day, long after we’re gone, these images will still speak.
Nestled high on the cliffs, with sweeping views of the Aegean Sea and those iconic whitewashed buildings and blue domes, Santorini was the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable session. We opted for a sunrise portrait session in Santorini to avoid the usual crowds—and let me tell you, watching the first golden light spill over the island was absolutely breathtaking. There’s something incredibly peaceful about those early hours, when the island is still waking up and the light dances gently over the rooftops.
Of course, things didn’t go exactly as planned—because when does travel ever go 100% smoothly? 😅
Right before the session, my curling iron decided to quit life, and I had no backup plan for my hair. Enter: messy hair twists and a little creativity. Sometimes, you just have to roll with it, improvise, and embrace the moment (and the wind!). In the end, the photos turned out even more authentic because of it.
A huge heartfelt thank you to Anna, our talented Santorini portrait photographer, and her assistant Alex, who met us bright and early to document such a special moment. Their calm energy and expert eye made us feel comfortable and connected throughout the session—and the images are everything I hoped for and more.
If you’re planning a trip, I encourage you to book a local photographer wherever you go. Don’t wait for the “perfect” time. Document the love, the messy hair, the early mornings, and everything in between. These are the moments that matter most.
Without further ado grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine and enjoy our Santorini Sunrise Photo Session.
