Fun in the Sun ~ Destination Photographer

I was in California for a few days and I couldn’t leave without doing a photo session at the beach.  I have to say that the warm weather and sandy beaches are the only two things I miss from California. It was a toss up between the orange orchards and the beach.  My daughter thought the orchards were going to be boring.  I guess they could be for a twelve year old.  So off to Camp Pendleton Beach we go.  I am so glad we went there.  And while my daughter played at the beach, Nancy agreedView full post »

Brighter Friday and a giveaway!

So I wanted to post this last Friday but life happened and I was pulled away from the office.  So here it is a week later. First I want to thank my family, friends and fans for your amazing support.  I have been in business for a year and I can’t believe how much I have grown not only in my business but as an artist and a person. I feel like I have received so much.  I have a huge support group in the industry that continues to challenge me and help me along the way.  Business wise I wouldn’tView full post »

Oscar and Norma | Destination Wedding Photographer

My first destination wedding of the year and you know it’s going to be a hot day if it’s in California! I have been looking forward to this wedding since last November when we did a prompt engagement session of the couple while they were visiting family in Eugene, Oregon. We had so much fun and the camera absolutely loved them. When Oscar and Norma asked me to photograph their wedding in California, I was beyond excited! This was my first destination wedding of the year, and who wouldn’t wantView full post »

Miss Gaby | Senior Photographer

I love this girl!  She’s got a big heart and a big personality.  When Gaby contacted me about doing her senior pictures I was delighted.  Gaby was one of my first models when I started my business and her session helped launch my portfolio.  She wanted a little bit of urban and a little bit of country for her photos.  I knew just where to go.  I’d like to take the time to give a huge thanks to my friends for letting us invade their place and letting us borrow their horse.  GabyView full post »

Last week was a week of graduations.  It’s hard to believe that this year has come to an end but with that comes a new beginning for Class of 2012! I am so excited and proud of Dylan.  He is an amazing young man.  Loves God and loves people.  When you are around Dylan, he always makes you feel like you are the most important person in the room.  He will go out of his way to say “Hi” and always has a big hug and smile for you.  Oh, and did I mentioned he is a hard workingView full post »

Miss Devyn | Eugene, High School Senior Photographer

One of my favorite seniors is graduating today!  Congratulations Miss Devyn! I am so proud of you and how far you’ve come. In honor of Devyn’s graduation, I want to share Devyn’s testimony that she kindly wrote for the blog. Her story is a story of grace, mercy, love, God’s redemption, and a mother’s ultimate sacrifice. In Miss Devyn’s own words…            Between the ages of zero to eight years old I grew up in an unsaved, abusive home. My marriedView full post »

Pearl of the Caribbean

I am so excited to be introducing you to my very first guest blogger, my husband Curt Gillis.  Even though his topic has nothing to do with photography, it is a subject that is very dear to my heart.  This story ties in with a goal that I have for Lydia Gillis Photography.  A roadmap will begin to unfold throughout this month, so I encourage you to stay tuned in… So, settle in with a cup of coffee and enjoy the wonderful experience of Curt’s journey into the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, the islandView full post »
