The Big Reveal!

April 27, 2015

Filed in: Personal

Today’s post is a very special post.  It’s the Big Reveal day I have been talking about for the past few days!  Today I am sharing with you something that I have been wanting to do over a year ago. Something that I have been working very hard at and I can’t believe it’s actually happening!  But before I share the big secret let me first tell you how it all came to be.

As you know I am a Wedding and High School Photographer.  Over the past three years I used the senior model program to market my business.  I don’t want to say it was a total failure but it wasn’t successful either, and I take full responsibility.  I used the last three years as a learning experience.  And after evaluating everything I decided to give it a try one more time but this time it was going to be totally different.  I put fear and doubt aside and followed my dreams.  I was determined that 2015 was the year for me, for my models and for my seniors.  It was the year to redefine LGP Model and Senior experience.  I have put my heart and soul and yes even tears because if I can be completely honest in the beginning I wanted to quit.  Fear and doubt can be your worse enemies!  I have to give a huge shout out to my amazing husband.  He has been my biggest supporter from the beginning.  Always there to cheer me on when I would talk to him about my crazy ideas and always there to encourage me when I didn’t believe in myself!   I love you Curt!

Perseverance and determination pays off! I have built a model program that I believe in 100% and I have 16 amazing Senior Models, and this year I am bringing back my junior model program as well.  My model program is full of perks and incentives which is great but not enough for the LGP Model experience.  I wanted to give my models something more, something big!  I also wanted to give them something not just for them but something where we could give back to the community.

I am beyond thrilled to tell you that this year Lydia Gillis Photography and LGP Models will be hosting the first annual Fashion Show at Valley River Inn on May 19th from 7 to 9 pm.  100% of the proceeds, yes you heard right 100% of the proceeds are going to benefit ShelterCare.  A non profit organization in Eugene.

ShelterCare has provided housing and supportive services to families and individuals in Lane County since 1970. The agency’s six programs serve three groups: families in crisis, adults with mental illness, and adult survivors of an acquired brain injury.  The people they serve have one characteristic in common: their poverty and their experience of, or vulnerability to, homelessness. ShelterCare provides more than shelter; they are a recovery program which seeks to support the people they serve in stabilizing their housing and their lives.  More information is available at www.sheltercare.org  The funds raised through the fashion show will support ShelterCare efforts to re-establish families and individuals in housing.

Tickets to the fashion show can be pre-purchased on line at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/lgp-fashion-show-tickets-16745796127  Tickets sales will be available Friday May 1st and you can contact me at lydia@gillils.com or an LGP Model.

Before I close I want to thank all the parents of my models for trusting and believing in me.  I am blessed and honored to have YOUR child as part of the LGP Model Team.  And to my models…you guys are the best!  I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with.  So excited for what this year holds for all of us.

Please don’t forget to check back.  We have some amazing vendors we are partnering with and I will be featuring them on the blog.  If you are a business owner that would like to participate on this special cause please contact me.  I would love to talk with you.

Thanks and hope to see you at the First Annual LGP Fashion Show at Valley River Inn.  Don’t forget 100% of the proceeds go to ShelterCare.
