I had a different blog post scheduled for today but changed it last minute because its Valentine’s Day and I want to honor my FOREVER VALENTINE! Curt and I are not big on gifts and I don’t get upset when I don’t get flowers on those special days. He is actually really good at giving me flowers on random days and I prefer it this way. I should add that he brought home the most beautiful white rose bouquet last night. Curt and I are all about making memories. We love to travel and immerse ourselves in the local culture and cuisine.
Today, I want to share our Edinburgh Couple Photo Session from last year’s trip to Scotland and England. These photos are from Edinburgh, Scotland and I absolutely love them! One of my priorities when Curt and I travel is to hire a local photographer and set some time aside for a photoshoot. I love documenting our trip this way and have something tangible to share with future generations. Our love is part of our legacy.
For this trip we hired Ieva Brunsdon with Ieva Marija Photography. She is absolutely the best. Edinburgh is such a beautiful city. Pretty much everywhere you go is a picture opportunity. Ieva was great at communicating with us and helping us choose the right locations for us. Another reason I love to hire a local photographer, one that knows the area well.
We started our photo shoot early in the morning to avoid the crowd. We met Ieva in front of St Gile’s Cathedral for the first part of our photo session. St Gile’s Cathedral is a beautiful 12th century cathedral and one of the most prominent features of the Royal Mile. The Architecture at St Gile’s Cathedral is a piece of art that one must experience in person.
We later took a short walk to Victoria Street located in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Victoria Street is one of Edinburgh’s most colorful and prettiest streets. This place has a charm of its own. The array of vibrantly coloured shop fronts, and cobblestones streets made for the perfect backdrop for our photos. There is also a top terrace where you can see some of the eighteenth century buildings and it gives you a different view. Just perfect!
We ended our photo shoot at The Vennel. A secret alleyway tucked into the Grass Market area with a beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle. There is an old beaten staircase leading up from Grass Market. So comfortable shoes is highly recommended . The view alone is so worth it.
After the shoot we went to a Laila Restaurant with Ieva for some hot drinks and breakfast. I found this restaurant on Instagram before our trip. It’s not only Instagram worthy but the food was delicious!
To my beloved Curt, alway and forever you will be my Valentine. Te quiero con todo mi corazon!
